    Hi peers,
    I m having a jarring experience.
I have difficulties focusing while reading. 10 minutes into reading my mind wonders off.
The truth is I m not big on reading. I am more of a listening kind of guy.
However , I decided to take up reading. I mean, I wanna take it more seriously. You know It is a necessary evil :))

    Pete

  2. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

I am waiting for the next days so that I can see them. They seem to be a surprise as always. Thanks Jeff and Lucy for the good time you two address to us every week. Really grateful.
    Aecio

  3. Dan says:

    Hey Pete

That’s normal. It happens to me all the times.

Hi Aecio! have a nice weekend.

    Bye.

  4. Tania says:

Hi! I have seen on TV how the 4th of July was celebrated in the world.
Huge fire works and much joy.

All the best to you all,

    Tania

  5. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

Hi Dan, have a wonderful week. I miss you here with wise posts. Did you follow my advice? About lying down on the floor with the spine straight, resting the legs on a couch etc? Be careful! This pain can lead you to a crutch or at least to a cane. Have a nice day.
    Aecio

  6. Tania says:

    Hi!
Talking about the American musical Cabaret…
I saw the movie years ago, and some weeks ago I read an article written in a magazine about Liza Minnelli,
one of the great musical performers of our time.
But what the old age makes from a woman… even from a great artist.

The song Cabaret was ranked No. 18 on the 100 Years…100 Songs list in 2004.

  7. Tania says:

    Hi!
I am happy that you tell us about Cabaret.
I saw the movie and I had many question marks regarding the topic.

  8. Dan says:

    Hey everyone,

How are you guys doing? over here in Europe is really hot! Over the next days, Spain 45° Italy 40° up there in England I have heard its 40°.

As I was reading through the news, I have found this one that is beautiful.

A spacecraft with a beautiful name -New Horizons- is getting near Pluto after a traveling billions of miles during the past ten years. It was launched back in 2006.

I cannot wait to see what they find out over there in that region of space. These are the kind of news that pump me up and get me going.

    Bye!

  9. emiliano says:

    Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!
    Fremde, etranger, stranger.
Gluklich zu sehen, je suis enchante,
    Happy to see you,
    Bliebe, reste, stay!
    Wir sagen
    Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome
Im Cabaret, au Cabaret, to Cabaret

One of the best musicals ever seen, in Broodway and all round the world, year after year,
and in the cinema directed by Bob Fosse.

It is possible I have seen the movie seven or eight, even more and never I am
tired of watching it and listening to the songs son incredible good and acted by
the one Liza Minnelli and the nice Michael York one of the best voices speaking
    the English language.
What to say about Joel Gray who who was Oscar by his role in the movie, to me
one of the best actors because without him Cabaret will be another film.

Yes Tania, you are right. emiliano

  10. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

Hi Dan, what is that spacecraft going to do that far? Better if we could take care of ourselves. So many poor, so many children, so many needs here in earth. I don’t see why to go out of space to find nothing. That’s my opinion. If you don’t agree with me, that’s your problem. I’m sorry but I see that way.
    Aecio

  11. Tania says:

Hi! As our resources of living are exhausted on the Earth, we desperately need to find out a new planet
with similar living conditions for our next generations.
I am very exciting when a new spacecraft leaves the Earth.
And a Romanian woman wants to reach the Mars planet. She knows that she can’t come back, if she is selected,
but she wants to be a pioneer on the Mars.
All cosmonauts are the bravest and the most courageous people on the Earth as they know that
anytime they can’t come back at their homes.
The same like in espionage but much more dangerous.

  12. Tania says:

Hi! Thank you Emiliano for your lines regarding the movie Cabaret.
Without to read any critics, I was very impressed by this movie. I don’t talk about the political context.
I have not listened to English Cafe 508 yet , and I don’t know if I am right.
After I had seen the movie, all night I thought about the artistic message of the movie.
    What does it mean?
The same ironic mask (the Master of Ceremonie?) and the same obsessive sound appear when something happens.
In my opinion, this is our destiny, our fate laughing at us all the time, the irony of our life.
    Am I wrong?
I’d like to know your opinion, dear blog friends.

  13. Tania says:

Hi! Do you like Willkommen song?
I like “Cabaret” and the lyrics of the song “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”.

May I share them with you?

The sun of the meadow is summery warm.
The stag in the forest runs free.
    ……………………………………….
The branch of the linden is leafy and green,
But somewhere a glory awaits unseen.
    Tomorrow belongs to me.

    The blossom embraces the bee
    But soon, says a whisper,
    “Arise, arise,
    Tomorrow belongs…”

    To me!

  14. Tania says:

Hi! Can you imagine such a wonderful poetic licence?

    “The blossom embraces the bee.”

And in my country the lindens are in blossom. The scent of linden flowers…

  15. Tania says:

    Hi!
And the idea of hope for the best:

“But somewhere a glory awaits unseen.
    Tomorrow belongs to me.”

Dear Jeff, I wish you a glory awaiting unseen. Maybe your new Magazine can be your new glory.
Tomorrow belongs to you and all ESLPODCAST team.

  16. Tania says:

Hi! I like and the lyrics of the Cabaret song.

    “What good is sitting
    Alone in your room?
    Come here the music play
Life is a cabaret, old chum
    Come to the cabaret.

    Put down the knitting
    The book and the broom
    It’s time for a holiday
Life is a cabaret, old chum
    So come to the cabaret.

Life is a cabaret, old chum
It’s only a cabaret, old chum
    And I love a cabaret.”

Yes, for many of us “it’s time for a holiday”.

  17. Dan says:

    Hey Aecio,

I know what you are trying to say, and I hear that argument a lot but that is wrong for so many reasons that my BS detector is bursting into flames.

Do you realize, right?, that compared not just to rest of the universe, but only with our galaxy, we are on a grain of sand?

Do you realize that what makes us different from other animals is that we wanna know how things works and what there is out there?

Do you realize that that it’s like saying to Columbus, as he was about to set sail for the Americas, Hey dude, where are you going? there are starving children and plagues!

The lists goes on and on and on. Just google: NASA budget and you’ll find out is nothing compared with what we, as a whole, have benefited from their work.

Remember that 99% of what has ever lived on this planet is gone. It takes just a small asteroid and we are all gone.

We MUST go out there and FIND out what’s there, and how the universe works that should be our first priority/aim/goal.

Do not worry, if we want we are perfectly capable of taking care of everyone and exploring at the same time. As we are doing right now.

Personally, I would like to see way more money destined for exploration and science. We would be better off.

Using the words of Benjamin Netanyahu that he used for other reasons recently: “The enlightened world must unite against the forces of darkness”

Those dark forces are holding all of us BACK.

Anyway, that’s it. It’s not all I would like to say, and I am sure that later I’ll be like “I could have written that instead of that”.

    Bye Aecio

  18. peter says:

    Howdy peers,
Bear with me for a second. I wanna share you one little story which is stupidly funny.

You know ,every morning , before I go to the salt mines :)I stop by at star bucks to mentally prepare myself for another busy day at the office.
Well, today was no exception to it, I poped in the Starbucks situated in the vicinity of my work place.
Before I get to story, Please keep in mind that typically there are 4 Cup sizes that Starbucks offer:
    Venti,
    Grande,
    tall, and short.

As I said ,I dropped by to grab my morning doze of coffee on my way over to the office. I ,as my habit dictates, always go for either a cup of Grande or tall cafe latte.
However ,today I decided to size down my order of coffee.by that I mean go for one size down,as I had an Irish coffee for my nightcap;)
I got on line which was out of the door. Seems like everybody needs some sort of ritual before they head to work:)))
Anyway ,I had no choice but waiting my turn.finally ,after 20 minutes listening to the latest episode ,and now ” Learn English Magazine “in the world of Eslpod ,I got to the head of the line ,and sheepishly asked for a small late. Well ,the guy ,who were waiting on me, rung me for an staggering amount of 3 dollars and 63 cents ,then headed me a tall sized late.
    ” Small!! ” I said yelling.
“Oh ,short size you mean ” he said smiling.
Man , for a send of two ,I felt stupid and ashamed at the same time. I apologized profusely and said ” Sorry lad. My vocabulary is all the way down to tall. Smaller than that was a mystery to me at least until now. ”
He laughed at my stupidly corny joke.well ,in my defence ,I was trying to save the day.
    Boy ,it was embarrassing !!!
After zillion years of living in Canada, I didn’t know one size lower than tall is called short simply because I have never ever ordered a short sized coffee before.
The moral of story here is :
“The learning process never ends. ”

Sorry to take up your time chums

    Catch u later
    Pete

  19. Dan says:

    Thanks Pete

That was interesting. I enjoy reading about people’s daily adventures.
And do not worry too much. That’s nothing.

Thank you for passing that info on to us.

    bye

  20. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

Yes, Dan. I understand you very well. What I mean is that we should be concerned more about all the problems we have here on earth. Thanks for your nice and wise words. As I can see, you are an excellent researcher. Go on studying the Universe and learn more and more. In my simple life, I would rather stay with my feet on the ground. But it doesn’t mean I don’t like to know about everything. I admire you with your expertise. Congratulations.
    Aecio
