  1. Dan says:

How is everyone doing? how’s your Sunday?

Have you guys heard about that probe NASA launched that is orbiting this dwarf planet between Mars and Jupiter?
That’s sweet! I love those kind of news. I can’t wait to hear what we are going to learn about our solar system.

Thanks have a good Sunday everybody.

  2. Dan says:

    Hey hi.

Listen guys, As I was laying down on the balcony in the Sun with my cats around, I was thinking about Lucy.

Yes, Lucy the scriptwriter not Lucy the Australopithecus afarensis.

I was thinking about her choice to remain in the “shadow”.
I do not want to criticize her choice, it’s fine, it just is that it draw my attention, you know.
We are living in the selfie era. We are in the epoch of image and vanity, yet Lucy does not want to appear.

She is present with all her writing. Sometime I wonder if there is something hidden inside her never ending production.
A phrase or a word here and there suggesting something about her like in a puzzle.

Her conduct suggests someone that is very reliable, a hard working person. I am like that too.

Anyway, just thoughts I had while enjoying the sun.

    Thanks bye

  3. Dan says:

    Hey sorry, me again.

Just to say that if anyone is interested in better knowing the otherLucy the Australopithecus, here is a nice Smithsonian website.
just google for Humanorigins.si.edu. National Museum of Natural history.

    Enjoy.

  4. emiliano says:

Good Dan, nice thoughts under the sun, but what I may say you and other it is that our dear Lucy is one of the
nicer persons you could imagine or meet.
Yes, I have my reasons to say that and be sure she doesn´t want to appear because she is a modest person
that doesn´t want to figure, she prefers to follows unnoticed being known only for her splendid work.

My dear Cuca wants always to be unnoticed just like Lucy, some how they have something in common
and I may understand them perfectly well.

I envy you Dan being that way you describe us so well.

    Greetings, emiliano

  5. Dan says:

    Hey! Hi Emi.

As the respectful man that you are I trust you about Lucy.

Hey, last week one of my cats had a loose tooth. One of the longest the canine.
I took him to the vet and to my surprise it got loose because of age! his old! 14 give or take.
Now I have his tooth. heheheh.

    Thank you bye!

  6. Dan says:

I miss Betty. Sorry, I can’t remember her last nickname.
Sometimes thinking about her I get mad at her for disappearing.
At the same time I understand her.
Well Betty, if you are reading this, just know that you are wanted.
Hope she’s fine and not having problems of any kind.

    Bye

  7. emiliano says:

Lili, Dan, this is her new name.
Think about the movie LiLI of Leslie Carol, it was a nice film with Mel Ferrer also.

It is possible Lili reads your posts but have not time to Write.

I do read all the posts of ESL Friends, but my mind it is just out to Write in English.

Just a pleasure Dan, I always read also your nice humor writing that makes life
    to the Blog. emiliano

  8. Tania says:

    Best wishes,

    Tania

  11. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

I see that there are many people telling about Lucy, two Lucies: one the writer here and another a fossil. All Lucies are nice. Dan, have you heard about one female statue made of stone that was found in Dullendorf? They say that she was the first statue made by men in honor of the procriation. She has big breasts, big ass, just to show women are prolific. Good one, huh?
    Aecio

  12. Tania says:

    Hi!
Today , in my country, we celebrate the Woman Day.
Mothers, wives, fiancees, ladies and misses, work colleagues receive flowers, spring flowers of all colours from men, those love them.
    Even from their employer.

  13. Dan says:

    Hey Guys.

Hi Aecio, I did not know about that figurine. I saw something very similar on a BBC doc. where they were excavating in Israel and they found a little statue like that one.

    Thanks

  14. emiliano says:

Tania, ever so nice and good friend, you know I read all the posts that our new and old Friends write on it, but now my mind is empty of nice
    or good ideas.
My dear Cuca is going worst every single day, now is in bed because a new pain has appeared to torturate her. “Neuralgia del Trigémino” and
it is a horrible pain that has a very strong treatment. With this treatment all Cuca´s strenth goes down till the point she can´t eve feed herself.
So no needs more care of me and Isabel the woman who is coming to help me.

My mind needs to be out from all these problems trying to be cold to help Cuca and usually I try to write in my own blog “desembuches” but
even more reading or thinking in doing a trip to Amsterdan in April or to Copenhaguen in July.
Will be posible for emiliano doing these trips?. I don´t really know but it is necessary to evade the mind out from so many pains.
Yes, I read the Blog every day, and I know you are making your best to give it ideas and new forces, here we say “que no decaiga” and I
think Dan and you are vital to revive it every day.

Thank you dear friend, you all are in my thoughts the same than Lucy, Jeff and Warren.

    emiliano

  15. Dan says:

    Good week everyone.

I am with Jeff when in pod. 1084 he has a partial rant on people driving while using their phones or getting distracted in any way.
As he says that’s really stupid and dangerous.
This has nothing to do with D.W.T. but I do not know where you live guys, over here is a steady stream of bikers dying every week.
Those bikes are literally rockets on two wheels.
And if you think about it, it’s not even the best way to end your life, with all your bones broken. that’s hurts.

    Thanks

  16. emiliano says:

    A Story

Many years ago in a place called Spain, there were three very young children who were brothers.
Two girls and a male who was the boy’s mom, is that so much believed having a male in families.
Although there was little pampering, spent downright bad, hunger, deprivation, cold and lack of humor or patience
with such misery, the small man who received more love and pampering, as they said their older sisters.

This three children were not told anything, lived the life that vien small always conducive to play and mischief that exasperated
her mother who stretched the money to make ends meet and not used to be in good spirits.

The father of these children were born in 1914, First World War, and his little son also was born in 1943, full W.W.II but
in their environment, Spain, world war too was not noticeable.

After her, much worse after hunger is happening anyway, with war and that the country was isolated with an international
blockade have tacitly supported the losers, German forces and their bloody dictator who had previously helped the Spanish dictator
to defeat the freely elected government of the Second Republic.

    to be continued….

    ++++

This is the Little story I am writing now, just my story bur it is written in Spanish, of course.
So this is the way I pass my time just to not think in pressent.

    See you soon

  17. Marcos says:

    Hi everyone
    ( English Café 493 )

Thank you Dr. Jeff for answer my question on this English Café about the meaning of “hipster doofus” . I’m so happy.

    Have a nice day

  18. Sofia says:

    Dear Dr. Jeff McQuillan :
I just have discovered this website recently, and I am really impressed with your teaching strategy and your explanation for everything in an attractive way. I have a big problem in learning English and I thought that you might help me with your valuable advices. I live in Canada for fifteen years and I studied several courses in the Community College and even that, I am still cannot speak English fluently. my writing is better than my speaking. I can start a short conversation very well but if the conversation is getting long, I make mistakes in Grammar and in the structure of the sentences. I know exactly my problem, but I do not know how to solve it. I have so many English resources to study like books, apps, websites but I do not know how to organize these resources or which one I should start with to continue until I finish it. My problems are:1- I do not speak English at home, and I also was working as an Arabic teacher, so I could not use my English at work either, and sometimes when I tried to speak English to the students I feel embarrassed so I make more mistakes. 2- I need to have time to think about what I am saying before I pronounce it and it is difficult to have a pause when you speak. 3-my memory gets weak so sometimes I do not remember some words even I studied them. Do you think that studying ILETS online will help? I have a strong feeling that you can help me with a valuable advice that I really need. I would appreciate it if you send me an email.

    Thank you for your time.
    Sofia
P.S. I am sorry it was not a comment.
