First I think about 1776, the Independence year of the U.S. But it is about 1876.
According to the Wikipedia, the year 1876 was a very important one.
– March 7, 1876 – Alexander Graham Bell (1847 – 1922), known for invention of the telephone, is granted a patent for an invention
he calls the telephone;
– March 10, 1876 – Graham Bell makes the first successful call by saying “Mr. Watson, come here, I want to say you…” ;
(I think I saw the movie with this important event.)
– August 8, 1876 – Thomas Edison (1847 – 1931), known for invention of the electric light bulb, receives a patent for his mimeograph.
But most important event, in July 4, 1876, the United States celebrates its centennial.

Ancient customs, especially in the rural area. Our grandparents are our experts.
For sure you have bad luck if:
– you crossed paths with a black cat;
(the antidote : put a hand on a white buttonn.)
– you met a priest on the street;
– you met a man with an empty bucket in his hand;
– you had a bad dream last night.
You have good luck if;
– you found a four-leaf clover;
– you see a heart in your coffee (It’s a sign of love. Great joy, someone loves you.)
If you broke a mirror…Oh! You will be married as soon as possible.

But the charms are the worst. The bad luck charms. Even if you can’t believe in charms…
you have a strange feeling if you know that someone makes you bad luck charms.
You have to go to a priest to untie the charms.
In our schools it is “forbidden” to talk about superstition, to be superstitious.
We are taught not to be superstitious.
But… everyone with his/ her superstitions.
We use a horseshoe on greeting cards like a symbol of good luck wishes.
We use the same words “superstitie” and “superstitios”.

Hi Everyone.
Things that made me laugh listening to EC.494: Jeff’s Mom calling him “N. 11” or just “Hey You!”
Later, while describing the genes, I was not expecting Jeff to say “not the jeans you are wearing” that also made me laugh.
The clarification makes sense though, since the two words sounding the same -especially to a non well tuned hear, if I say so- gets someone easily confused.
After that, I was thinking that London had a adventurous life. Little bit short maybe, but that was perhaps kind of ordinary at the time.
And then, one last thing, if you like me spend tons of time on You Tube, the word that Jeff describes at the end, the on starting with B…, on YT is very common. At least on the channels I follow.
Anyway, I do not know why, but find it hilarious hearing such words coming from Jeff’s mouth.
It’s like just yesterday, I was watching this video called “Love letters to Richard Dawkins”. It’s funny to hear a usually polite and well mannered person reading all those insults.
And the British accent adds more fun to that.

Just some thoughts of my cat Gatufo:
¿What is happening at home?
I do not know how to say what is happening at home, I lack words that have any meaning for a cat, but I´ll keep using the absurd expressions of these human so smart.
I am very worried and it is difficult for a cat to worry about anything but his food or rest, but as this what I have assured me worried Cuca.
Yesterday she did not rise from the bed, perceive evil, sick, and I choose to climb over her, curl up on her belly and give her warm and loving
with my body.
When Emilian got out of bed I did not go with him, I went over her and well I was over until it came Isabel that I got down.
Another thing I can think there is something odd, and they think too, it was that in the bed Cuca stayed all day.
Bewildered were all at home, like me, and Cuca spend all day inside the bedroom por of her.
It is not good, do not perceive it well, not that is in addition to what we already have, but the fact is that if she was before slow, very slow, is now almost immobile, it costs raise her arms, take food to the mouth which in my opinion is a delay.
I wonder why this human wave their hands and bring the food to their mouth with some utensils calling fork and spoon, also handle something sharp to what is referred to as knife.
It would be better to eat directly sticking their noses at the food site.
What I save, I need nothing, I put my nose into the site for the pittance and go.
When I am thirsty very quickly pull out my tongue, moisten and enough is enough.
Well, Cuca can not lift his arms and carried food to the mouth, so Isabel or Emiliano move theirs and introduce it in her mouth.
Bad, very bad sounds to me, and Emiliano has called someone call a doctor, who will visit.
I hope she could improve it and then get out of bed, Cuca can return to her pc., Type, and manage covered to bring the food to her mouth.
I have no other news of interest to me, just want to see Emiliano and Cuca good, playful, dealing with me and them I will be as happy as a cat use to be.
With that enough for me.

Cuca is not going well and everything is keeping sad for all of us, even for the cat
