Brrrrrr! It’s Cold in Los Angeles

450px-Tumbleweed_snowmenAlthough it is raining in Los Angeles today, it has been warm this week, as usual. However, the early part of December was cold here, at least by Los Angeles standards (way of measuring). The high temperatures have only been in the 50s (around 10 degrees Celsius) and the lows have been in the upper 30s and low 40s (around 0 degrees Celsius).  Brrrrrr (the sound we make when we’re cold)!

I know what you’re thinking:  Cry me a river!

I know that many of you live in places with much colder winters than the ones we have here in Los Angeles, but the unusually cold temperatures got me thinking about the coldest places in the U.S. A popular weather website, Weather.comanalyzed (studied carefully) the information from the past 30 years taken from the National Climatic Data Center, the largest archive (collection of records from the past) of weather data. Based on this analysis, they named the five coldest cities in the U.S. They are:

5. Caribou, Maine
4. Jackson, Wyoming
3. Gunnison, Colorado
2. International Falls, Minnesota
1. Barrow, Alaska

The lowest temperature recorded in Barrow, Alaska was -56 degrees (-49 degrees Celsius). The average low temperatures in the winter are in the 20s below zero (-29 degrees Celsius) and the average temperature for the entire year is 11 degrees (-11 degrees Celsius).

Needless to say (clearly; obviously), I won’t be planning any trips to Barrow any time soon. I’m known to all of my friends and family members as someone who hates the cold and wears wool (warm material made from the hair of sheep or goat) socks when it falls below 65 degrees (18 degrees Celsius).

Yes, I’m a wimp (weak person) when it comes to the cold. I’m very thankful that my parents chose to raise me in Tucson, Arizona, and not, say (for example), St. Paul, Minnesota. And no, I’ve never had the pleasure (?) of shoveling snow.

What are the coldest places in the country or countries where you’ve lived? Are you a lover of cold weather or are you a freeze baby (a person, usually a girl/woman, who is often cold) like me?

    HI everyone,

Lucy, could you please tell us more about your native state Arizona in future posts? If you wish of course.

And yes! I have heard about this wave of cold down there on a piece about concerned orange growers.

Well, I am not a wimp, but I am for warm places too. I think I would cope well in Arizona, since I have very little fat on me.
I am the Mediterranean type. I think that one day I will send you guys a pic of myself.

Over here (north Italy) we have mild winters.
For instance, right now outside it’s 3 degrees Celsius. See! no that cold.

A few years ago, there was a wave of cold coming from Russia and outside during the day was -17 Celsius for three weeks. But that it’s a rare event.

I remember the ground was shrinking! it went down a couple of inches.

Hey Lucy, here my advice for when you are getting cold perhaps for staying too long in front of the desk.
At least this is what I do.

Keep an Xbox 360 with kinect and a copy of Your Shape Fitness and perform ten minutes of cardio.
I can assure you that after that you are sweating. I just did the 25 minutes program, and that was tough but funny.

Thank you Lucy, I appreciated the Arizona ‘s version of snowmen. Lol cowboy hat ahahah.

    Thanks

    Dear Lucy,

Madrid has the best temperatura of the world.

Winter – 6º C or even less some time, just the same in Salamanca, Segovia and so forth
usually less til – 10ª C and so several days, but the sky is blue and the sun
    is shining…

Summer 46º C may be several days and you don´t see any body walking along except
some por tourist that wanted to see the cities….or the museums.

So, in Winter it is delicious to walk under cero degrees if the sun is shining and the sky is
    blue.
Summer it is terrible, a nap it is the best solution, like in Tucson I think.

Did you have any naps over there in Arizona Lucy? Sure Mexicans, Spanish or persons
born in South America could be napping in summer, but you dear Lucy?

Don´t get flu or a cold with such a Winter in L.A., it could be really very bad.
The last I took was horrible.

    Take care Lucy.

    Dear Lucy
I always prefer cold places but once I finished my university I was sent to a very cold place in the north west of Iran. This is an obligation here for medical students to work 2 years in underprivileged places after graduation. Because public universities are free and instead you have to work for government in places in need. As I said I was sent there which was a place about 2000km far away my hometown. At first it was like an adventure to me because it was the first time I was away from home . everything was going great till the winter comes.the degree falls below -20 degrees Celsius and I had to work everyday but it was not the problem. The problem was as there was an underprivileged place, in the winter the gas was not be able to sent there and because of freezing water in the water pipe there was neither water no gas.so imagine in -20 degrees Celsius without gas and water ,2000km away from home. All the people who lived there had petrol heater and prepared petrol beforehand. But I had not known the gas would be stopped in the coldest time of year. I had no place to go and it was not safe for a young gairl at that place to trust anyone and stay over.so I was like an Eskimoo in my home.i just had a very small electronic heater which could not heat more than 1 meter at that temperature above all I had to go to work early in the morning without car because in 1.5 meters of snow I could not yse my car.so Lucy be greatful you were not in my situation. Thanks a lot.

  4. emiliano says:

Lilian, thanks a lot, please write more it was a long time without reading a real
    story like yours.

I was absolutely interested reading your post till the end.

It would be so good if you tell us more stories, please, please, please….

    Thanks Lilian, emiliano

  5. Myo ko ko says:

    Hey Lucy,
Me too don’t like the cold.
I was born in the hottest month, May, and in the hottest region, central part of Myanmar.
I don’t know if you guys know Bagan — a famous tourist attraction of my country.
It is located in the hottest part of my nation. By the way, if you go ahead from Bagan to upper Myanmar, you will have to cross a bridge nearby, the town you reach after passing that bridge is called Pakokku, a medium-size town, where I spent all my university student life. Well, if you drive another 25 miles along the motor road (but this road is not in very good condition at the last time I saw it.), you will find yourself at a small, say, junction where three roads meet. Just 2-miles drive away from that junction is a small unfamous town named Yesagyo — my native town, where I grew up as a teenager. (You can see these towns in Google Maps.)

    Well, back to story,
It is sure that a person who was born and raised in a hot region doesn’t like the cold and winter.
I think my body structure also accounts for one reason.
I’m thin, with not a lot of fat. Maybe I can be termed a wimp, too!
    So,
I love the snow, but I hate the cold! 😉

    Myo ko ko

    P.S.
Now we are in the middle of winter here in Myanmar.
    Brrrr . . . it is so cold! 😉

  6. Betty says:

Thanks Dear Lucy, I like reading your personal story.

I could be wrong, but I think you are not really a wimp even when it comes to the cold. You can train yourself to take the cold. Might be you need to eat more cheese or chocolate to give you more fat under your skin. There is a breakfast cereal called “Ready Brek” which claimed to be a “Central heating” for kids. Might be you can try it to see if it helps.

I have escaped from the cold in England and now back to Hong Kong where it is too hot for me in the summer. Hong Kong can be very cold in winter for those unprepared.

When the temperature drops to around 4 degree Celsius which is 39 degree Fahrenheit, many old people will dial 999 to seek for help from the emergency services. The hospital will be full of old people who can’t breath. Some of them die because of the cold weather. We human are so fragile.

I think I should buy some warm clothes now, your article has made me feel very cold.

Many thanks again and see you again soon.

    Betty 🙂
P.S. The snowmen in the picture are so funny!

  8. Øyvor says:

    Hi friends!

Dear Lucy; In addition to wool..some thin layers of a newpapaper are wonderful to put into your shoes=)
I am a lover of the nature.. born in this cold country, but I don´t like cold when the temperature is lower than
minus 6C..unfortunaltely I`m living near the coldest areas in Norway, in between two National parks,
Jotunheimen and Rondane/Dovrefjell. So..minus 25 to 30 is not unkommon here. I love snow, lot`s of snow,
so I can go out making snow angels and use my sled..what is the name of that kind of sled I wonder.. in my language it is “spark”..
to metal pieces, you place one foot on one of them, then kick the sled forward with the other…??? We even have a Norwegain
“spark” competition!! Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences and stories! I wish I could invite you to a snow-ball fight=)),
as I have a warm house and lots of wood and thick woolen blankets, so no problem! I would never be able to live in those countries that have more than 20+!! C.. Over the past years we experience mild winters, but hopefully we will have a white Christmas!

  9. Dan says:

    Hey guys,

I am not sure we are supposed to read each other’s comment, but I do it and enjoy that as I love reading the posts of our precious teachers.

    Hey Øyvor,

I am coming at the snow ball fight! I am warning you though, I aim at the face…..especially if you are a woman or a kid……..

    Thank you have good holidays.

    Hey Myo,

I took the virtual trip of your places.

Unfortunately your country is not well mapped out. There is no ground view.

The University seen from above has at its entrance the shape of an eye.

    Thank you.

    Lilian,

    Nice reading from you again.
That was like boot camp over there. I see that you survived.

    Thank you.

  10. Dan says:

    Hey guys,

Want to laugh? look on NPR for “Have Yourself A Sullen Little Christmas”

    I loved Dead,Dead,Dead. LOL

    Thanks

As I have said frequently here I like to read books from Stephen King and as he is living in Main several of his books
take place in this State, always in Winter there is too much cold and just this subject is brillian touched in all his
    novels.

I can´t explain myself what do you do in USA with such a big snow storms, windy and cold wether.
Just incredible despite here we have very cold days but not snow storm or tornados, or huracans, or nothing
similar as in your big country.
Some how it is fascinating but dangerous too.

Thanks a lot dear Lucy and from here I wish you and all ESL staff, Jeff and Warren a happy Christmas, also to all
our friends here in the Blog, please have good happy Christmas all of you.

Gladly in Brazil the weather is the best in the world. Temperatures never go over 38 Celsius and never below 5 Celsius in average, unless you go to South Brazil, where the temperatures can go below zero only a bit or you go to Northeast, where the temperatures go up to 48 Celsius. But these occurences are rare. I don’t like low temperatures because they take energy from your body. The only thing I don’t like about weather in Brazil is flood. Sometimes rain causes flood in the ramp of mountains, like in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro. That’s why I always say that Brazil is the best country in the world, without boast. If you want to visit a great contry, come to Brazil, but avoid big cities where the violence is spread around. Next year we will have the World Cup of Soccer in Brazil. It is expected to receive a lot of strange people to watch the matches between great teams. If you like soccer, don’t let it go.
Aecio, now said why he lives in the best country, and more, no sins, no regrets. Come and see for yourself.

  14. lilian says:

    Hi Emiliano
Thanks a lot for your concern.you know there was like a military service to me.In the place where I was sent which is next to Turkey with common frontier l was like a stranger because in spite of there is part of Iran but they are kurd . Their language, culture and religion is different and have always had problem with the government because they want to be independent and as they are so bigoted they dont accept foreigners easily.one thing which surprised me was as they are against government ,smuggling is an honorable job there.when smugglers car passed on the streets every cars let them go but they didnt let police officers to go after them . One of my horrible memories there was once I was sent to the villages on the mountains to screen leprosy patients. On the mountains in a narrow khaki road next to valley with too much snow I had to go to far villages . Just our car and smugglers was there.and my boss had told me to inform my family that the road might be crossed by avalanche so I would have to stay in the villages and there is no telephone and cell phones does not work. But Emiliano on that foggy snow covered mountains there was a great silence ,you just heard the voice of nature ,you felt so near to God which I will never forget.

  15. Jens says:

    Hello everybody,

it´s interesting going through the posting.

Here in Hamburg/Germany/Europe we have quite unsual warm weather at the moment. It´s near + 10 degrees !
Normally it´s around +- 0 degrees, and the kids are hoping for white x-mas. I find snow in a big city not really nice,
because the mixture of snow/salt it´s not good for your car, also it doesn´t look nice, when the snow begans smelting,
which usually comes after a few hours – because of salt.

I must refer back to the english-cafe last week about the canjuns/acadiens in Lousiana.

In 2009 I was travelling a bit through Canada with the train. So I came to New Brunswick,
a eastern canada province. I stayed there, because I was interested in the area “Bay of Fundy” ,
which is famous about the high tides (up to 21metres – which is enormous!)

Anyway, you can see this here in Europe, too (for example St.Malo/France).
So it was a littele bit of a dissapointment for me, also the Lobster taste only
good for me, which enough relish on it :(( !

But I stayed in a nice, charming B&B, which was running by a nice lady, with
    a old dog, in Moncton.
What is special about Moncton ?
So it´s billingual (France/English). It has got a university, which is the largest
french-speaking university outside of the Province Quebec !!!

I found next to the University a academie or cultural center of the “acadiens” .
I was guided through the exhibition through a young acadien lady.
She and her collegues were quite proud about their cultural backgrounds.
I bought a broschure about the history and donated for their cultural work !

It´s not a big group of acadiens in that part of the world – but I was very proud
to find a minority group of people, their culture and backgrounds are interesting
    as well.
They look like the same, like other canadiens – that was my impression. But I
wasn´t meeting old acadiens, maybe they have specific characteristics ?

I believe that the “canadiens acadiens” are more assimilated, compare to the “canjuns”
in Louisiana. But I have no experience down there.
But as Jeff told us, the dishes are some kind of evidence, that their culture are in the middle
    of society.

I wish everybody a happy holiday, stay away from trouble and illness.

    Jens

  16. emiliano says:

Lilian thanks a lot, I think you could write a book with memories about the time you spent over there, the people, you livings
    and so forth.

Sure it will be interested for thousands, and if you write it please tell me.
I´ll be the first to read it.

This site could be a good place to write and tell us your memories, a great audience it will be here reading you stories
    about real life.
Yes, I know something about what you have told us and the kurd people, but what I didn´t know was they have
    a different religión than yours.
I know kurds are in Turky, Irak, Siria and Iran and they want to be an independent nation what seem really difficult belonging
their lands to three or four countries that have not a good disposition to accept.

Years ago we were in Istambul, Turky, and there was a big problema about this subject.

Everything sems the same everyway, thanks a lot dearLilian and please tell us more stories.

Fascinating jus to know other cultures and life conditions that are telled in first person like
you do thanks and go ahead.

    emiliano

  17. emiliano says:

Thanks Jens I wish the same to you and your family.

As you mentioned St. Malo / France good memories come to me about this incredible city of Bretagne
    in France.
I really like it and St. Michelle Abbey it is so impresive, yes I like all these lands a lot.

Well I am goin to read something about what you have told us about Acadiens and their culture
it seems interesting and I have to listen to Jeff´s café too.

As Jens said stay away of trouble and illness, I have taken your phrase Jens, it is wonderful.

  18. Parviz says:

    Hi Lucy,
This year winter fell on us heavily.
I live in the north western part of Iran-The place where Lilian was sent to work.
It’s very cold in winters. Although I have been living here for as long as 4 years, I still have way to go to get accustomed with condition.
As I said, this year was very unusually cold. Cold enough to constrain most of (school children and adults) at home.
Even today, a weak after the last snowfall, there still ice on the streets.
The temperature falls below -16 degrees at night.
Last night I was washing the stairs, to get the dirt off the steps. After I spilled water, all of a sudden I watch water freeze in front of my eyes.
I used to be cold sensitive. When winter fell I would go with the hose (I had to below my nose frequently).
But now, after ling here for a few years, I am happy to say that, I am adapting to the weather.
It is not difficult living here anymore as it used to be.
I wear warm clothes and boots like natives.
Originally I am from south (next to Persian Gulf) where the weather never gets colder than 15 (even at winter nights).
I like cold weathers, especially when I see people walking past me with their cheeks gotten red from cold.
Maybe, in some point I would immigrate to a colder place like Barrow. who knows.
    Thank you,
    Parviz

  19. Parviz says:

    P.S.
I didn’t get to comment on Jeff’s experience of snow shoveling, though read the post. I’m sorry Jeff I was busy breaking Ice in front yard.
    Cheers,

    Nice job Bro.
Since you read everyone’s post, I presume you know about us more than anyone else.
    You know every story,
    You know every wound,
But I am not sure if you know how to ride (a horse).

    Thanks,

  23. Dan says:

    Hi there Parviz,

Well, I have plenty of free time and I am just trying to have fun while learning something new.

I am not sure what you mean about “riding and horses” does that have some hidden sexual meaning?

    Please make that more clear.

    ?? ???? ?? ??? thank you.

  24. Parviz says:

    Hi Dan,
No, it doesn’t have anything to do with sex.
Though I am sure you have already secured a master’s degree on that, too.

    Hey Lilian,

I am glad you survived that terrible situation.
Even as a guy I dread going to that mountain rages in the north west.
I am sure you got important lessons from there.
And I would love being close to the nature and listen to the sound of nature.
Great Silence, which we never find here.

Which is the big city near you are living Parviz? I would like to see it
in google map as your country I think is fascinating.

Do you think it could be easier to travel now like a tourist in Iran?

There is a lot of bad information here in Europe about your country but I
don´t believe anything my friend. It is always the same actitude here
only say the bad newa and I think all countries have bad news if you
    look for them.

Spain have a lot of bad news, very bad news if you search for them
but there are also good. I do think good people are more or less the
same everywhere and of course there is much more good than bad.

Lilian stories have taken me, thanks to all you, Dan, Parviz, Lilian,

Reading this blog I do think world is better than the one we use to

There is a place in about 100km to Tabriz in name of Kandovan which is must seeing. People live in caves on the mountains .as they said they kept their life styles since more than 800yrs ago. There is a good 5stars hotel there which is new built but in ancient cave style. I stayed one night there. The rooms are caves on the mountain but you have got all appliances and each modern facilities. Imagine one night in a cave on the mountains whit people from 800yrs ago. Great silence. Wow I should come again.wish you the best .try to enjoy because time never comes back.

    Dear emiliano, My hero
I live in Tabriz. But I am Persian. But I can speak a little bit of Azery (which appeals to me so much).
A great city, with 4 distinc seasons (winter, spring, summer and fall).
In the countryside you can find farms and gardens with many many different kind of fruits.
On the farms, there are still people who keep sheep.
There are also many tourist attractions and good hotels and landmarks (old buildings associated to monarchies).
If you learned from the news reports, delegates from Spain have been spending sometime in Tabriz, talking about strengthening the trade and economic relationship between the two countries.
I am sure this will help ease the tension between Europe and Iran.
    ___________________
If you consider taking a trip here, My friend, I want to let you know that you are always welcome.
Despite what they say, Iran is considered one of the safest places in the area.
Which hopefully help visitors keep their mind in peace when are doing their trip.
Of course, there are some limitations, as well. But not as much to make you uncomfortable.
For example, women have to wear a head-cover when they enter.
And we don’t have bars. But in some hotels they may serve wine to the visitors, which is not very common.
    Don’t worry.
If you consider traveling here, you always know that you have a home here.

Last night was Yalda, The last night of Fall and the longest night according to our calendar.
We stayed up eating fruits, crunching nuts and telling crazy stories.
I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to make nice preparations for this night such as delicious dinner, beautiful fruits and nice stories.
I still remember some of those stories, and sometime- when the time is right-I would tell them to my students.
Yalda, is also a time for family reunion (family gathering up).
But this year, I had to spend time with few friends, instead of going to my family. which was fun though.
Because, good friends stick together through best and worse.
And wish my friends health and wealth.
    Thank you,
    Parviz

    So, Parviz,
Do you want to know Dan’s secret, the magic link?
Will I tell him my age right now so he lets you know his Atomic bomb?
    OK, OK
Here it is . . . my date-of-birth is . . . oh it has just slipped my mind! . . . er . . .it’s at the tip of my tongue, I dare say!
I can’t just recall it for now! Sorry, I beg your pardon. 😉
I need to look it up in my diary again. Don’t you think I’m losing my memories — a phenomenon that comes with age?! 😉
    Ha ha ha ha

Nice reading all your stories, guys!

    Hi Myo,

I was not aware of those games, but I am not a big fan of sport events.
I am not even watching the games in Russia or the one held in Brazil.

Your country did pretty well with 230 medals.
I like the two owls. That is a beautiful creature.

    Thanks

    Hi Dan
I am a doctor(general practitioner) and I love to travel whenever my work let me but about that place I mentioned however it was on the mountains but it was safe mean no wild animals ,it is a popular tourism place in Iran ,many foreigners come here to visit there.there is one another place like that in Turkey ,Ergup which is as well popular for its caves houses and you can ballooning across the city there.as I remember you didnt like to come to Iran because of bad news you had heard I advice you to go Ergup .you won’t regret that. 😉

  39. Dan says:

    Hey Lilian

You do not want to have me as a patient cause I am never ill. I see my doctor every three four years or so.

Do you still use a stethoscope? I like playing with that thing, you know, listening to the hearth beat of the cats, the neighbors…..

I did not say that Lilian. I said something different.

I would love to go and see Iran. I am sure there is plenty of beautiful things to see.
And, as Parviz is saying that there are no bars, that is not an issue since I NEVER go to bars over here.
I do not even know what the use of such places.

Again Lilian, thank you for helping people out.

    Thanks

    Hi Dan
like you I love cats.last time I had a pet was 6yrs ago which was a very nice persian cat.I had her for years ,she was like my kid ,I used to take her with me everywhere I went , play with her most of the time and sleep with her in my bed . Sometimes I couldn’t take her with me out for example when I went to the university. that time my mom told me my cat was looking at the door all the time looking for me.one cursed night me and my mom had to go somewhere and couldn’t take her ,we opened the window for her if she needed to go outside to piss.but when we came back er saw her dead body in front of the door.she was killed by a car and her head was bumped out.at that time me and my mom lived together .Both of us wereshocked and couldn’t get close to her.i shouted and cried loudly that our neighbor heard my voice and buried her under a tree in our yard.after that I swear not to keep any pet forever.

    Hi Myo Ko Ko

When you say : “Knee to read your stories”

Do you mean: “Keen to read your stories”?

    Betty 😉

  43. Betty says:

    Hi Lilian

I am so sorry to hear the sad story of your cat.

Our pets are really our best friends. I had dogs and cats before when I was little. The first time I lost someone closest to me was my puppy dog which was probably under one year old. My neighbour’s big dog attacked it and it died a few days later.

I started dreaming of the dog playing with me after that for sometime. I had never dreamed that when it was alive.

Do you think our pets’s ghosts came back to see us because they missed us like we missed them?

In one of my English speaking discourse exams, I was given two minutes to think of an answer for a question: “Pets are good for children, do you agree?”.

I had to speak for two minutes in English (monologue) and the examiners had to evaluate my English speaking level from my answer.

I thought with my experience of having pets when I was a little kid helps me to think of a good answer. But it was not easy to impress the examiners.

By the way, I am not a doctor nor a patient, but I have been a regular at the local hospital recently because my father is a regular patient.

During the past few days, I had to spend at least a few hours a day to stay at my father’s hospital bed side because the hospital did not have the manpower to keep a close eye on my father.

Usually the local hospitals don’t like patients’ families to be around during non-visiting hours. We thanked God for the kind offer from the doctor.

My father’s helper, my siblings and me took turn keeping an eye on my father round-the-clock.

He became better almost immediately and we don’t have to do that now. Also thank God for that.

Lilian you are doing a great job. I want to borrow a sentence from our local radio RTHK Radio One medical programme host Simon Kwok-wah SIU and present it to you. He always tells the medical professionals in his programme that they “have not wasted their time living as a human being”.

We need more people like you in this world.

Please keep up the good work.

    Betty 🙂

Hi Llian, very sorry knowing the story of you cat, sure you suffer very much
but it mean you love her and also you have very good time with the pet.

Just have in mind the former not the end, it helps a lot and I think love and suffering are
always together, we love our children, our parents, our girl or boy friend and our
wife or husband, but we have suffering too as a consequence of these feeling.

You know that perfectly well, life is so, eve I think that is beeter to love and
have suffering that don´t have any of these feelings along our life.

I think you are doing a right work, that is sure and sure by your work as a doctor
you know too much more about life than me do.

My cat Gatufo is giving me lot of love and pleasure and I don´t change this for
nothing despite it is possible that he gives me some pain in future.

With my dear Cuca has happened the same, she gives me the best love always
but I suffer a lot seeing her ill for lot of years. That´s life I do think.
Love and suffering goes always together along our life.

Thanks and please be here with us telling good stories always.

    Hi Betty
Thanks for your beautiful impressing post.I was touched by that and can see what exactly you were through as a child since I had a German dog when I was kid.he grown up with me .I love cats but I know having dog is different ,they are not like any other animals .they are something more than a human.come to think of it he was my best friend whenever I cried he picked up my tears by the tip of his tongue. Fortunately he had normal life but after 14 yrs when he perished for the first time I felt the meaning of loneliness. I dream him much and hope he is aware of that.
Dear Betty if you asked me that question at least 5 or 6 yrs ago my answer was totally different but after seeing so much pain and discrimination in this world I don’t believe in other world anymore. It mus be a silly idea that we are examined so our situation are different if that’s true why so much difference why some people live in such a healthy wealthy life and some people should be in so much pain and poverty.just to be examined.! I don’t even reproach anyone for bad things they do since I believe in the same situation we would do the same. But there is something I can not deny which is The presence of God . Fortunately I can still feel him.:)nice talking. Bye

  47. lilian says:

    Dear Betty
Forgot to thank you for your beautiful sentence. I will cherish that by heart forever.

  48. Dan says:

    Lilian,

Please, next time spare me the details. Just say she passed away.
I was loving your little story, but when I got to the end it was tragic.
Moreover, I was reading it this morning at 4 since I could not sleep, and had on my side my female cat Princess.
I had to hug and kiss her just to erase the thought from my mind of what happened to yours. I am sorry about that.

You are not the first one telling me a similar story. I had a couple of others people telling me they would never get pets again.
I do not understand that. Why not? Animal shelters are full of dogs and cat waiting for someone.
They ask so little and give you so much.

    Thank you

  49. lilian says:

    Hi Emiliano
Thanks for your beautiful comments.i appreciate your sympathy. You are right joys and pains come together. There is a beautiful sentence from George Eliot which says Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them .Again thank you very much.
