    Man,

I remeber before Eslpod’s time, I always , kept my ear to the ground to be the first person to know of new words or Expresions among my friemds. U know what because back then the new English terms were hard to come by.
But,Now , I don’t need the keen, close focus since Eslpod has always fresh materials in its sleeves for me.
Eslpod did it for me ,fellas

  5. Andre says:

    Thanks for your work, ESL.

I’d like to suggest that you create a podcast to differentiate very similar sounds like beach X bitch(Generally, Brazilians can’t pronounce it correctly), sea X see, pull X pool, beat X bit etc.

    Thanks again.

  6. Betty says:

    Hi Andre

I am glad to learn that it was not just me who cannot pronounce:

    beach X bitch
    sea X see
    pull X pool
    beat X bit

It took me my whole life to try not to call one of my children’s teacher Mr Beach wrongly.

My children were very worried every time when I greet the teacher by his name.

I don’t think I can improve my pronunciation for those words.

If you know Cantonese Chinese, try to ask a native English speaker who do not know Cantonese Chinese to say ‘Celery’ in Cantonese Chinese.  I bet you no matter how hard you try to teach them, you simply can’t make them say it correctly.

God made every person differently but fairly.  I can’t speak your language and you can’t speak my language, perfectly.

    Best regards

    Betty 🙂

  7. Betty says:

    Dear Lucy

I am going to be Peter no. 2.

Peter always thanks you for your wonderful scripts and how he was praised for his excellent use of English.

I am doing the same here today.

In the speech that I had to gave this evening, I used a number of expressions/phrases that I have learned from the dialogues that you wrote for the podcast.

They were so good expressions that I had many people praising my use of English.  They also laughed so much.

It would not be possible for me to know all those expressions had I not started learning from this website.

Even my daughters asked how I could write such a good speech.

    Thanks again.

    Yours truly

    Betty 🙂

  8. Betty says:

    Hi Peter

You are a huge fan of Lucy, I think we all are.

    ********

Peter how do you feel when people asked you to enter a ‘marriage of convenience’ with them?

It must be a very mixed feeling.

When I was young (long time ago), I was asked by my mother’s friend to marry her unmarried sons (any one of them, really).

Her sons had Canadian citizenship and so she thought I would not refuse to marry them.

I was not impressed.  I simply ignore her.  I only felt sorry for her that she had to work so hard to try to find wives for her sons.  Why did they have to give the poor mother all the hard work?

I enjoy reading your messages. Thank you for always interesting posts.

    Betty 🙂
