  1. Dan says:

    Hello, Dan here.

    Still raining here.

Thank you guys for that pleasant surprise on the podcast about StarTrek this last week.
I mean the intro music of the serie brought back memories, and it was even better because unexpected.

I am not sure what rerun was that, but I grew up with that series as well. I watched it during the 80s.

And yes there are science fiction games. I am waiting for one right now. It’s called No man’s sky.
Unfortunately it has been delayed till August.
The developers got inspired by science fiction literature from the 50s 60s 70s.
One of the major things to do in the game is exploring around so that it’s like Stars Trek.
And there is a lot to explore there..literally a virtual universe. If the game it’s not repetitive, you can go on for all your life visiting just a little fraction of it.

    Thanks

    Hello guys

I meant to tell a joke, but I woke up too late this morning and I have decided not to tell it. Alright now, here I go.

A prawn says to another prawn: “I am worried for my daughter, she went to a cocktail and she hasn’t arrived yet!”.

    That’s all for now, bye

  4. Dan says:

    Hi Mary.

    I had to Google prawn.
I know what shrimps are and now thanks to your joke I know prawns as well.

I am not sure what’s the difference between the two. Maybe shrimps are smaller.

    Anyways thanks for the laugh.

  5. Mari Carmen says:

    Hi Dan

    Thank you for your observations.

In fact, I think that the characters of the joke should be shrimps. You know, I translated from Spanish, and the generic gender for these animals in my language is femenine, while prawn’s is masculine.

    Thanks again, bye

  6. Peter says:

    Guys
    Will brexit really happen?
If it does , it sure will transform Europe.
There are less than two weeks ago left to an referendum that may turn a new leaf in history.
June 23 is the day when a great nation stays to stay in the picture or get out of the picture for good.

    Well
All that is brewing pointing out that brexit has enough ammunition to win.
    Well
In this age of day, I m not surprise if it actually happens.
Well , if u ask me it is a historic referendum: an event that it’s ripple effect touches every single nation out there.
But , what feels the aftershocks worst is the global economy.
We r in for a big show down in jun 23 the day in which a nation decides its fate!!!

  8. Peter says:

    Man
I m still heart sick over the mass shooting
My heart goes out to them

They were just trying to be themselves and bang: the tragedy

I can’t imagine that must have been like
    Man
    They must be still reeling

I m appalled that how national news media focusing just on the shooting and not the victims and their families

  9. Dan says:

    Hi Carmen

I have no idea…could be anything…why don’t you tell us..I am dying to know.

    Waiting……. ?

  10. Dan says:

    Hi

My two cents on what happened in Orlando ,FL.

I am aware to be ignorant, but we reached a point where you do not need to have a PhD on geopolitics or global affairs to understand what’s going on.
As long as there are people, and amongst them western politicians that are supposed to be there in order to defend us, unable to even name the problem…..unfortunately we are going to see more and more of similar cowards barbaric attacks.
The question is…what do we need to see more before those people wake up?

    Thanks

    Hi, Dan.

Nop. Sorry, I won’t say it.

    Thanks

  13. emiliano says:

Peter, to be clear I don´t care at all what could happens about being U.K., in or out
    of Europe.
In fact somehow they are out already so to be a little more out what is the differece.
    Bussiness?, customs?.
meassurements?…not of course as they has different meassurements
    than us.
Weights?, just not as they have also different way of weight.

Are they going to drive the other side than us? Not, of course as they do already.
Their money will stop being euros? No, as they have pounds.

Same as me, nearly everybody here doesn´t mind a bit if United Kingdom is in or out
from Europe, as they are already nearly out and at last they will stop claiming about
the fact of going out asking always more privileges to be inside.

Be off if you like to be so and let the rest of European countries in peace and don´t
    ask more adventages.

  14. Tania says:

    Hi,
It seems to me that it is one of the most interesting political debates in our blog.
Thank you very much as I learn a lot from your opinions.
Different viewpoints from different countries. I like it.

Regarding Brexit, I agree with Emiliano.

    I love you all,

    Tania

  15. Tania says:

    Hi,
Dear Mari Carmen, maybe still you can tell us your “secret”.
Like Dan said , we are dying to know.
I like your joke. We are waiting for another.

    Best wishes,

    Tania

  16. emiliano says:

Thank you dear Tania, ja ja you are an european too
    like me.
As Tania said may you tell us another joke Mari Carmen
I need jokes a lot now that Cuca is not at my side.

All the best for you my friend.

    emiliano

  17. Mari Carmen says:

    Hello

Dear Tania, my secret has to do just with a dream of youth. It is something personal and I could feel a bit embarrassed if I mentioned it, so let that I keep it to myself.

I never meant my comment was going to create so much interest!

Hey Emiliano, as for the joke, I am not much good at telling jokes, even less in English, but I will try to tell this one just to please you. You would probably know, it is a classic.

Two men come across in the jungle and one says to the other:
“Why do you carry a telephone cabin with you?”
“It’s to prevent tigers attacking me: I get into the cabin so I keep safe. And why do you take that heavy anvil in your arms?”
“For the same reason. If I stumble on tigers, I put down the anvil, so I can run faster”.
(That’s it, you are suppose to laugh now).

    Best regards.

  18. Tania says:

    Hi,
Good joke , Mari Carmen, and with two new words to me.
    Thank you.

All I have to say now is that ESL Podcast 1217 – Fighting the Effects and Signs of Aging has tought me a lot of good things I didn’t know. Thinking of aging is not a good thing, however all of us some day will be at the same point in the future. Balanced food, exercises, good sleep can keep us looking younger than we actually are.
