    Thanks Jeff.

Wish you all and all ESLPod. team to have a great 2013.

I do not you guys but last night I went to bed at 10.
Going to bed so early this morning I woke up at 5. As I am used to keeping my wireless headphone on my night table
I put them on and listened a great jazz concert on NPR live from New York with the cowntdown at 6am Italian time.

At noon I looked at a new year’ concert broadcast from the Teatre La Fenice in Venice.
They played all music by Giuseppe Verdi for his 200th anniversary of birth.
Look for it on You Tube it is worth the effort. It gave me goosebumps.

    Thanks .Bye!

  3. emiliano says:

Well this morning I have been watching to the Viena´s concert, the same as every first morning of
    the year.
The concert has been really good and we could see the beautiful land of Austria.

I like Viena a lot, just a pity not having a million euros to go to the concert some day, but
I know that even so it is really difficult to get a ticket to the Concert.

  24. Tania says:

    Hi!
Ray Bradbury…First I was fascinated by the book title” Fahrenheit 451″, something which reminds us of Physics with precise date, here, the autoignition point of book paper.
And then, the Ray Bradbury’s idea from 1953 valid and today in 2013 that his book explored the effects of television and mass media on the reading the literature.
Today few people read books. Only PC, only internet, only TV, smartphones, video games…
I know a young IT engineer who wants no book in his home. “I have my PC with anything I want” he says.
But a house without books? Like a tree without flowers?
We can’t buy all books to make our own library at home. But I again agree with Ray Bradbury:
“Libraries raised me. I believe in libraries because most students don’t have any money.”
I think the library is one of the places where the spirit of emulation is born.
We use the same word “emulatie”.

  25. Tania says:

    Hi!
I have not read “Fahrenheit 451” but I have read the plot summary hoping to see the movie.
Montag , the main character, is a fireman who burns books in a futuristic American city, as his boss shows that literature is morbid and dangerously complex, and that it deserves incineration.
Forced to burn his own house himself, Montag runs away and he finds a group of renegade intellectuals (“The Book People”).
They are a part of a nationwide network of book lovers who have memorized many great works of literature and philosophy.
Enemy jets appear in the sky and destroy the city with bombs. Montag and his new friends move on to search for survivors and rebuild civilization.

The Montag’s escape followed by helicopters and a TV crew (in a book written in 1953) remember me of “The Fugitive” , an 1993 American thriller film made after the Sam Sheppard murder trial (English Cafe 377).

  26. Tania says:

    Hi!
I like the meeting between Montag and Clarisse, a beautiful seventeen-year-old who introduces Montag to the world’s potential for beauty and meaning
with her gentle innocence and curiosity.
She is an outcast from society because of her odd habits, which include hiking, playing with flowers, catching butterflies, reading which is against the law.
Thinking independently, asking questions, she seems genuinely happy.
“Are you happy?” she asks him.

Have you ever felt you are like an outcast having one of the Clarisse’s habits?

  27. Tania says:

    Hi!
“We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the constitution says, but everyone made equal…
A book is a loaded gun in the house next door.”

    Ray Bradbury Quote

In my opinion, we can use our book-educated mind which can be our “loaded gun” in many cases.

  28. Tania says:

    Hi!
“The sun burnt every day. It burnt Time… Time was busy burning the years and the people anyway, without any help from him.”

    Ray Bradbury Quote

  29. Nermin Eminova says:

  31. Betty says:

    Dear RED13

I read your message with huge interest.

Thank you for such good comments.

It makes me think a lot – what’s your background? What is it like to be a citizen of your country? What are the ESLPOD.COM’s dreams? etc. etc.

I was talking to the security guard of my building yesterday, I said it’s really scary how fast a year had gone pass.

He said, “When you were young, it’s not scary when a year gone passed so quickly. But when you are old, it’s really scary”.

I have a New Year message for every young people in the world: don’t waste time, learn something new everyday, time does not wait, it keeps running away.

    Best wishes to you all.

    Betty 🙂
