    Hi folks
    Catch me up!
The thing is I was busy with a bunch of visitors crashing on my couch from Germany.
Some old friends of mine who live in Germamy on a work visa.
I was busy driving them around.
    They are still here
When I left for work this morning , they are sound sleep snoring.
The thing is it was a wild weekend for all of us.
I wish I could sleep in too
    Well
    You know what the say
There is No rest for the wicket.
I spent too much on then already
At least I m earning some of them back today.
    Well
They get their salary in Euro which is stronger that Canadian money.
Still it is me showing them a good time.
Well , it is the way to go
    U know what I mean
We had a rowdy, great time this weekened
Their flight out back to Germany us this coming Sunday which means just one thing :
A week of being juvenile and questionable behaviour.
    Boy
This morning when i was leaving the place
    It was like a landfill
Things were strewn about around the house
And every single of them were like a nitty trap as I was wading my way out through them
    Man
    Take my advice guys
Never ever invite a bunch of dudes crash on ur couch for a couple of day
They have turned my place into this frat house

  5. Tania says:

    Hi,
English Cafe 554… The Manhattan Project…
I like this kind of topics as I remember of my school when I was a child.
According to Wikipedia, Niels Bohr was a Danish physicist who made foundational contributions
to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory.
In school time I knew many details about Bohr, Fermi… this is the reason for that I like to remember of them.
We forget very quickly many interesting things.

Enrico Fermi was an ITALIAN physicist , who created the world’s first nuclear reactor in USA.
He is the “architect of the nuclear age”. He discovered nuclear fission leading to the atomic bomb ,
and his reluctance to develop the hydrogen bomb.

By the way, Dan, many white Americans do not consider Italians white.
I know that the Romans who conquered the Europe where very strong , tall and fair-haired men.

  6. Tania says:

    Hi,
Give my Regards to Broadway… an 1904 famous song, by George Cohan from his musical play Little Johnny Jones.

    “Give my Regards to Broadway
    Remember me to herald Square
Tell all the gang at Forty Second Street
That I will soon be there.
    ……………………………………
Did you ever see two yankees
    Part upon a foreign shore?
When the good ship’s just about to start
For Old New York once more?”

And my father used to sing Romanian old songs. I know some of them and I am proud of this.
You can feel the old times if you know their music.

    Thank you.

  7. Tania says:

    Hi,
The Ballad of Gilligan’s Island, the song from a 1960 TV show, English Cafe 555…

“Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
    Aboard this tiny ship.”

I have read that this song it’s Americana.

We learn a lot when you explain us every word or phrase from a song or a poem.

    Thank you.

  8. Tania says:

    Hi,
I like very, very much the lullabies as I love the children, their innocence, their smile.
Thank you for this wonderful “Hush little baby, don’t say a word” by Mother Goose, with nursery rhymes,
    English Cafe 557.
It is the promise of rewards for being quiet.

“Hush little baby, don’t say a word,
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird won’t sing,
Mama’s gonna buy you a diamond ring.
    ……………………………………………..
And if that horse and cart fall down,
You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town.”

  9. Tania says:

Hi, I like and the lyrics of the song “You’re a Grand Old Flag” by George Cohan.

    “You’re the emblem of
    The land I love
The home of the free and the brave.”

We use the same word “emblema” with the same meaning.

    All the best for you,

    Tania

  10. Tania says:

    Hi,
    Dear Emiliano,
I like very much your poems.

Lost (always lost… again and again)

“Lost I am without your happiness
It gives me strength to continue this path…”

    Thank you.

    Tania

  11. Tania says:

    Hi,

    Nights in Silence

“At night the desire to keep awake
    So late…
    ………………………………………………
Love you so much my dear
than I don’t want to make any noise
Listening your breath I know your presence
that bright me every moment of my life.”

“At night the desire to keep awake / So late… ” Such a wonderful artistic image!

I would add “nights in white satin, never reaching the end”.

Yes, with you, Cuca is with us, our blog friend.

    Best wishes, dear Emiliano.

    Tania

Hello people, about my last comment, I received a note from ESL trying to solve the problem, but sasdly the problem persists and I am sure that the problem is with the internet in my city, lack of speed. I ask Jeff not not worry and I appreciate his concern. My teachers are the best ever and they work like a team.

    Hello guys,

I would like to say that this site and podcasts are wonderful, I’m going to subscribe as soon as.

  15. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

Hello everyone, finally I was able to listen to ESL Podcast 1219 – Expressing Disapproval from the beginning to the end, entirely. I’d like to make Jeff aware of that. He grew concerned (and he was right) about the problem I found in being able to watch a few podcasts. I appreciate his concern. ESL Podcast 1219 – Expressing Disapproval is amazing as always, bringing new concepts and comprehensions. As for that, I disagree with Jeff about an earpull on the couple. The way I see, a couple should test the life of living together before they get married, before signing the papers before the judge. It is like you buy something and suddenly you get regrets about the step you took. Of course, the responsability on the things you do must be taken seriously. Shame on us.
