Oh yes. ESL Podcast 1210 – Small Town Charm seemed to me very charming, even though Jef is fond of big cities. Now I unserstand why Jeff refused to come to see me in a small town in Brazil. The town where I live in is 30,000 people, but lovely, considerate and helpfull people. They are ready to help all the time. I still keep my invitation to Jeff if he wants to come. I don’t promise excelent time here, but I promise the best chicken soup, chocolate cake, home made bread, hot and black coffee, and of course a good talking, like shooting the breeze. Ask Lucy if she is wanting too. Who knows she changes her mind about small towns. Forget the prejudice and come.

    Well
    To tell the truth
My folks speak a different language than Emgkish among themselves.
But my brother and I are more comfortable speaking in English.
Honest , MY folks are very hard to understand.
U have to be fluent in two languages for the compony to consider you for relocation.
Well , it is not a permanent thing
They usually send u for one year or two.
Man what would not I do for a two year of weather system affording frolicking on the beach round the year.
Man , it seems to me a far off distenatuon.

    What’s going on everybody?

    Dan here.

I was wondering if anyone of you guys went out to see the orange gigantic
    Space Shuttle’s fuel tank.
I watched that huge cigar falling back to Earth so many times.
I still watch those videos every once in awhile. I don’t know what it is, but looking at this giant thing falling down towards Earth is kind of hypnotic, mesmerizing.
And beside that those images are stunning, beautiful.
Don’t believe me? Look at it.
It is also fascinating looking at the rocket boosters’ videos.

By the way, have you guys seen the recent videos of SpaceX rocket that is able to lift off and land back on a barge in the ocean standing vertically?
Wow! Isn’t that something?..Nice…I love it.

Thanks and have a great weekend everyone.

  4. Dan says:

    Hi there, me again.

On a lighter and kind of mocking note…

That fuel tank looks like someone sent a gigantic suppository to LA.

I don’t know maybe the city is sick of something and they need it….

    Just stupid thoughts.

  5. Peter says:

    Aceio
    I see ur point
    But
Well if Jeff wanna go around visit his cyber students
He needs to put everything down,Grab a globe , pack and set for a 20 years of travel all around the world or sth:)
U know, he probably has one student each city across the map.u do the math :)))
U know , a few years back on this very Bolg I tossed out an idea that perhaps heff could put up a eslpod convention of some sort so at least students who can travel to LA have a real-world reunion.
I pitched right hear on the blog!!
    Well
Needless to say , I didn’t go anywhere with it

U know I traveled to LA like several times over the life of eslpod but I never bother Jeff ,Warren ,or Lucy with asking them for a quick coffee or sth.
    U know
I didn’t want to out then on a bad spot ,albeit ,I love to meet then in person
Although ,Chances are I will get tongue tied fir fear of making silly slipups while chatting with them.
U know ,all of sudden becoming aware of every world you say.
    Self conscious kind of thing.

  6. Aecio Flavio Perim says:

Yes, Pete. You have a point and I understand you clearly. But Jeff has to choose and Brazil is a great choice. Only those who knows this country go crazy about it. Out of pride, Brazil is one of the most beautiful country in this world. I have said about honey and milk and I am not kidding. It is true. And you, Pete, should try. I am sure you will love it.

    Hello world
    Ottawa Tulip festival is on!
Well I caught it on the las day
It is typically from May 12-23
Well today is a holiday here : Victoria Day.
It is not like I m taking a day off or anything
There are sculptures ,out door and indoor tulips.
    tulip bulbs are beautiful man.
Just imaging thousands of them in the mist masmerizing ,dreamy clot assortment
Today is a very colourful day because of them
It is a 10 day festival of tulip.
It is a must see secenery !!!
    However
It is not the point of my story
The point being the history of the festival. I mea, how did it start and all
Allow me to have a line or two of its initiation back in ,oh boy , 1963/64
U know the while tulip fever started then :))
U know , if all goes back when in world war 2 Germany overrun Netherlands. Well , it is only natural for the Dutch Royal family at the time to flee the country and seek refuge else where
The first country they went to was Great Brtain in May 1940.well , as it so happened they never stayed in England but within one month or so the boarded a ship to Halifax then Ottawa here in Cabada.
Well ,Canada ,as it is it’s wont, welcome and hosts the Royal family with the warmest hospitality.
Well , as a token of appreciation ,5 year later after Europ liberation. the Royal family goes back home ,and as a token of approximation for the hospitality , they sent 10,000 tulip bulbs to ottawa and continue to do so.
The gesture my good friends led to the birth of tulip festival in 1963.
Now ,every year people around Canada and perhaps around the world make a pit stop here to be a part of the festival of color and flowers

Thank you Peter, I think it is nice to know a true history chapter as the one you have told us
about the Ottawa Tullip Festival and also what the Duth Royal Family did when German´s
army took Netherland under their boots.
By the contray the Danish Royal Family and the King Cristian X remains in Denmark
when the Nazis invaded their country being modelic their behaviour of protecting the
Jewist Danish Population together with nearly all the Danish people who saved thousand
of Jewist from being taken by the Nazis to be killed.

Peter, I know nothing about the Dutch Royal Family fled to Canada and the history of the Ottawa Tullip
Festival wich I think it is a subject quite interesting, thanks again.
