Really interesting was ESL Podcast 1202 – Describing Student Achievement. Now I wonder if I was a late bloomer in school in the past. May be I needed a gifted and talented program. Who knows? Jeanine is right when she says that kids develop at their own pace. Some students are fast learner and others are slow. It depends on their genetic inheritance. And it depends too on their will to know things. One thing is clear: what is knowledge for? What is it good for. Well, these questions must be answered.

That’s what’s knowledge for.
It’s for not living in the “dark” as we did here in Europe till the age of enlightenment.
For getting a better life for everyone. That’s what knowledge for.

Since I am one of those guys that see a doctor every 6/7 years, I thought about sharing with you guys my experience with our health care system here in my region.
The other day went to see my doctor for the first time since I moved here in this town 6 years ago. She’s a woman.
In the waiting room there were 6 people before me waiting. Classical music was playing through some speakers.
I did what I am used to do always. I studied all the people while waiting.
After 30 minutes it was my turn.
I am suffering from lower back pain but I feel the pain in my groin area.
She told me to get anti-inflammatory drugs and to get x-ryed.
Went to the pharmacy and spent 6 euros for the drug.
After that I headed to the place where you are given the date and the place where to get x-rayed.
I took one for 5/5 and paid 22.00 Euro.
And that’s all.

As long as ,we are sharing back pain stories, allow me to sneak one in.
U know ,
I have this kink on my upper shoulders that I couldn’t get rid of. The pain was dull but nucence. some times , though ,it turned into this twinge that I must say I did not appreciate.
Y know , it was a defusing pain which ,as u might know , makes it very challenging for chiropractors ,at least my chiropractor , to locate the origin of it. The nagging pain was bilateral. It felt on my both upper shoulders.
well , I used to cope with it. U know , laughing it through and all.
However ,For some reason ,just recently , the pain had aggravated.
i suspected, at the time , it was because of the heavy lifting I had done helping my friend move out her mother and put her in a gated-retirement community.
Anyway ,
I decide to pay a liitle visit to my doctor as the pain was getting sharper by day.
Well , funnily enough , I did the same , I tried to read people based on their apperiance and body language.
U know , it is what I do every time I m in the waiting room of a doctor office.
I personally think , it is the best way to kill time while in there or , u will be bored out of ur mind in those places.
I feel the need to add something here that i firmly believe is a sheer peculiarity u encounter just in doc offices in Toronto.
Visiting doctors here , u go through a long ritual man.
I m telling u man, u book a time-slot to see the doc at least one month ahead
Once u made the appointment , u start rearranging your life to make sure when the doc appointment arrives u are at the office one hour before the actual appointment .
Still , and it is the part that is even more painful than the affliction u wanna visit the Doctor for , u have wait typically around one hour passed ur actual appointment time to finally see the face of the Doctor.
And , my dear friend , just God help u , if u decide to arrive at doctor office five it 10 minutes before your booking time.
I suggest , u pack a camping gear for that. U know ,Just as a contingency plan, plan B ,if u will

I was saying I saw my chariopractor for the nagging pain.he hooked me up to a bunch of electric gizmos. And ran a battery of tests.
Well , I must say he did a good job. The pain is almost gone.
U know , in all fairness , he was worth the wait ( pun intended) :)))))

I love English Cafe 552 talking about Barak Obama, his origin, his family, his studies, his skils and more about the slogan, words he used in his campain: “Yes, we can” About the words people send to Jeff in order to get their meaning, the word that made me more interested was reception, the way someone treat someone who arrives a place. I remember to have invited Jeff to visit Brazil but he always says no. By seeing the images of LA I understand why he rather stay in that, city but the only thing he doesn’t know is that I had a sensacional reception to him. Good food, good talking, good landscapes, wild nature, real friends, funs and so forth. But he didn’t want. That’s his problem, not mine. But I keep my invitation on whenever he decide to come.

I said yesterday that I couldn’t wait fot the ESL podcast today and I was right because it was in deed awesome. The thing I liked most was the Lucy’s voice at the end of the dialogue in a rush to go to a new bar. Poor Lucy. She had a relapse. I know how it is hard to get rid of a addiction. I smoked for 25 years without knowing the harm it causes on human’s health, I was a fool. Now I am free from addiction. Thanks God.
