A glass of milk, and as many Oreo cookies as her mother would let her eat. That’s what my wife had for a snack (a small amount of food eaten between meals) after school almost every day when she was young. Oreos were her favorite.
Oreos, if you’re not familiar with them, are like a sandwich – two round chocolate wafers (a thin, flat, sweet cookie) with a white, sweet, creamy (soft, smooth) filling (something that you put inside of a pie, etc., or in inside a sandwich), called a creme filling. Sometimes Oreos are called “Chocolate Sandwich Cookies.”
Oreos have been around for a long time – more than 100 years. The first Oreos appeared in 1912, the year the Titanic sank, and the year that the first explorers made it to the South Pole in Antarctica. And, as our title suggests, they’ve been on a roll every since.
Oreos have always been popular. Last year, in 2014, people around the world bought more than three billion dollars’ worth of Oreos. That’s three times more than the next most popular kind of cookie. People love Oreos!
Today there are many kinds of Oreos. The Double Stuf Oreo has twice (two times) as much white creme filling as the regular Oreo. Big Stuf Oreos are much larger than normal Oreos. The Mini Oreo is bite-sized, small enough to eat in one bite. And the Mega Stuf Oreo, introduced two years ago, are similar to the Double Stuf Oreos, but with even more white creme filling.
There are many ways to eat Oreos. You can, of course, eat them the way they come out of the package. Or, if you’re like my wife, you can dunk them in milk – put them into the milk until they get soft – and take them out again to eat them. Some people like to “twist and lick” – turn the outer parts of the Oreo in a circle so that it comes apart, then use their tongue to lick off the sweet, creamy filling before eating the chocolate wafers. Still others like to break the Oreos into small pieces and sprinkle (scatter small pieces onto something) them onto ice cream. One of my favorite kinds of ice cream, Cookies and Cream, is a mixture of ice cream and pieces of Oreo cookies.

We have Oreos in Italy as well but they are called Ringo and are made by an Italian company called Pavesi.
The slogan is: Do you Ringo?
I did not know that, but reading at its history, looks like Mr Pavesi introduced Ringo in Italy after a visit in the US back the 60s.
My guess is that he copied the Oreos because they are very similar.
The name comes from one of The Beatles, well known British group of the time.
Personally, I do not drink milk. I only drink Tea. That’s my usual snack with a bunch of cookies, usually 5.
Next time at the shop I’ll see if they have the original Oreos imported from the US. I wanna try those.
And now as I am done here I’ll check on YTube for a Oreo’commercial.

I didn’t know Orea has been around that long
I m wondering it has kept its original owner or it had changed hand already ! I mean has remain in the same family or not!

But I use a talky different method ,a novelty method of u will ;))) to eat them
U know I take the top circular wafer very carefully so the sandwiched filling between the two wafers remains intact !!!
Then I eat the cream filling bit by bit using the top wafer as a tiny shovel,
‘Like the way you remove the snow off the ground.
Then when I m done with the creamy party I dunk the bottom wafer in my tea and suck it until the cookie resolve in my month!
And ,let me tell u, I do the same ritual with every single Orea.
Well warren my good man , on the ice cream department we have to agree to disagree! I must say I don’t like Orea chunks rather bits on my ice-cream they make ice-cream two sweet !!!
But , they are very popular in Canafa and I must say they are expensive compared to their counterparts

Every bag contains 20 or so Mimi Oreas
I can’t eat the whole bag in one sitting though !!
Three or four of them hit the spot for me. So, one bag usually last me one month.u know u need to watch my weight and my blood sugar!

Here in Brazil We have oreo, and do very sucess, but I like so much of cookies,
Many people prefer to eat oreo with ice cream and I think delicious others prefer with chocolate,
and really the version mix with chocolate is yummy.
Pascoa holyday is arriving and in Brazil beyond of to be a religious holyday is a day to eat
chocolate a lot and we have chocolat eggs of 100g, 300g , 500g until 3 kg of chocolat egg, and
we have also oreo chocolat egg.

We have Oreos in Colombia too. It is very common that kids in school eat some of these cokies during the 30 to 40 minutes break in the morning. However I prefer Hershey’s chocolate drops…uhmmm yummy.

To be on a roll for me means literally being on a roll of paper. Operating a printing press I see big rolls of paper every day.
It is possible to mount a roll of paper like it was horse.
As I always do, I have looked at roll under the tag Images. I like to see what comes out.
Then, yesterday watching at Oreos commercials, After watching the French, Indian and the British ones I thought: let me see if there is a Italian one.
There I found it! To my surprise some company introduced the Oreos into the Italian market in 2007. I did not even know that.
In fact I have never seen those on the shelves. Next time I’ll look more carefully. The cookies isle is quite big and it’s easy to miss something with all those packages.

Oreos are best when they are filled with crushed coconut inside. Not only in the Eastern time but also all over the year we can eat oreos for a snack. At breakfast, after lunch, in the afternoon, all the day you can eat an oreo and hum like a bee. The white color of the filling makes oreos more beautiful and attractive.

Hi! We have a lot of kind of biscuits similar with Oreos cookies.
As they are very sweet I don’t prefer them.
In fact I avoid the sweets as they are very dangerous for our health. I prefer all kind of fruits instead of cookies.

One other snack I usually consume is bread and Nutella or just peanuts with a piece of fruit or vegetable.
As a vegetarian I try to have peanuts as a substitute for meat.

I went at the shop this morning but did not find the cookies Oreo.
My guess is that after introducing Oreos over here, they have probably discovered that the Italian brand is too popular and you cannot beat those, and so they gave up.
That’s the explanation I give to myself. And frankly, there are so many cookies out there that you find yourself standing like a zombie looking at the shelves
being unable to take a decision on what to pick up.
At the end I bought a bag of pop corn that I am going to eat this evening watching my favorite show on you tube: The Drunken Peasants.

Oreo is also popular in China, you can see Oreos in many supermarkets and convenience stores.
I remember, when I was a little boy, Oreo is expensive, the price for a bag of Oreo is 5 RMB, but now, the price is about 6 RMB, after 10 years, not expensive now.
As a kid, I’d like to eat the creamy filling, had no interest in those chocolate wafers, but now I like eating them the sandwich way, without milk.
I had once ate the mini Oreo, just not bad, but did not impress me.
Now there are new Oreos in China, different flavors, thinner wafer, I ate then yesterday actually, I think those new Oreos are not better then the original.
I love the original flavor the most.

Sorry I disappeared for so long. This article about Oreo inspired me to do some research about this biscuit. I didn’t know it was so famous and had such a long history. I remember trying to buy a McFlurry (An Ice Cream that they sell in McDonald’s) and the lady behind the counter asked me, ‘do you want cookie or M&M?’ I didn’t know what she meant by ‘cookie’ until I asked my children. I hate to find so many new names for so many products which are difficult for old people like me to catch up with.
I searched the Internet about Oreo in China. There was a news about Oreo reported a drop in their sales in China because Chinese people prefer biscuits that are not so sweet.
Anyway, I went to a supermarket yesterday and picked up a pack of Oreo to see where it was made. To my surprise, it’s made in Indonesia. Oh, I thought it’s made in USA! Another discovery was, they have a “Mildly Sweet” version of the cookie.
I continued my study of Oreo when I had a chance to search the Internet. Bad news, the “mildly sweet” Oreo wasn’t exactly healthier, according to an article by Max Falkowitz.
All these brought to my mind something which I shouldn’t try to remember: I ate too much yummy sweets (candies) and biscuits when I was very little. Too unhealthy!
I’m feeling very hungry now. So, time to find something to eat. Oreo for lunch? I’ll think about it.
