Flying While Annoyed
Anyone who flies a lot knows what it is like to be in an airplane with inconsiderate (not kind; not thinking of others) travelers. Here are a few common complaints:
- People who talk on their cell phones at a loud volume (level of sound) and even after the flight attendant announces that all portable (able to travel) electronics should be shut off.
- While getting onto the airplane, people who stand in the aisle (walkway) for a long time, holding up (delaying) the rest of the passengers.
- People who speak loudly and non-stop (without stopping), often to the stranger (unknown person) sitting next to them who would rather rest.
- Parents who allow their children to run up and down the aisle or to yell loudly without checking them (telling them to stop).
- Passengers who bring more luggage on the plane then the two small bags allowed, taking up valuable overhead space (storage space over the seats).
- People who spread out (take more space) from their own seat to the seat next to them or by reclining (leaning back) their seats all the way back.
- People who don’t keep the bathroom clean for other people.
What annoys you when you fly? What do you do that might annoy other passengers?

Hello Lucy,
well, I don’t fly that often but I think the worst is the food.
I travel a lot by train thou(gh, I always forget that stuff) and the most annoying persons there are the ones that go in the train before other passengers are out.

As for me, nothing is more annoying than people who recline their seats all the way back just after the plane takes off and keep them in that position even when the meal is served

Well, people flying do all kind of inappropiate things that they do usually which ever place they are, and it’s a rule for these kinds of persons that don’t have any common sense.
There is a long time that I have not fly, but I have done a lot of bus travelling along spain and europe, and it’s just the same thing.
I hated noise, and people speaking aloud is very tired, it make me crazy. Also I was very ungry with people smoking in the bus. There is not a long time (I’m old) when it wasn’t forbidden to smoke in buses, and in that times some people smokes, and smokes….and smokes without any respect or consideration to the others who where inside the bus with them.
After hours of smelling tabac and inhaling the smoke I was really fed up with smokers, and you couldn’t say a word against them, or that habit as the odd was me, not smoking person.
I’m sorry, but now I’m happy with so many restrictions about smoking inside buildings, buses, offices and every place that is public and there are others.
Parents that allow their children going up and down everywhere? shouting as much as they could?
Have anybody seen such a thing ever?
What are you talking about?……..that is impossible.
If you ever tell something similar to such parents they should be astonished and very ungry with you. Be careful please about this matter.

Hello Lucy,
I’m writing to you first time. I’m from Russia and can say all kind of flying problems above in Russia there are. The person above is very happy that he’s never seen like parents were shouting at their children. Welcome to Russia, you can see it a lot. But it never annoys me because I always like to look at playing and crying children. That’s one more way to remember my childhood.
Thank you

I’m from Germany and like Andrew I’m also writing to you for the first time. Since years I fly a lot for buiseness matters, especially to Italy and the last time very often to China and India, I think the most things you wrote are right, but I must confess that I like flying very much. For me flying has more advantages than disadvantages. I.e. on the airport or in the airplane you can meet interesting people from all over the world and there is no other transportation which is able to bring you in a few hours to complete different cultures. In this places I try to improve my understanding of “not-american-english” for example the india-english (rrrrrrr) or the chinese-english (without any rrrrr) ;-). So, I hope you could understand me and best regards, Manfred (who is a fan of eslpod.com).

I really like flying pretty much and the only thing that I dislike is that the passinger closest to the window close it
so I can’t see no more the beautiful clouds (I do not know, maybe it disturb him bacause you keep watching towards him).
See you!

Just imagine yourself in the middle seat of the three-seat center section where you got two big ( meaning fat, not too agile) grandmas on your both sides and you REALLY want to pee!
