New Year’s Resolution
Happy New Year!
Now that the new year is here, many Americans are making their new year’s resolutions, promising themselves to do things differently this year and to improve their lives. Jeff talked about his new year’s resolution in English Cafe 2, but I wonder what his new resolution is for this year.
Here are some popular American new year’s resolutions.
- Lose Weight

- Pay Off Debt (money you owe to others)
- Save Money
- Get a Better Job
- Get Fit (healthy)
- Eat Right
- Get a Better Education
- Drink Less Alcohol
- Quit Smoking
- Reduce Stress Overall
- Reduce Stress at Work
- Take a Trip
- Volunteer to Help Others (work to help others without getting paid)
My new year’s resolution is to travel more. I like to travel, but I always put it off (delay it) because I think I’m too busy or it’s not a convenient time. My resolution is to just take time off (take vacation time from work) and enjoy myself more. I’ll tell you in December, 2008 if I’ve kept my resolution.
How about you? Have you made a new year’s resolution?

Well, I must admit that I’ve been having the same new year’s resolutions for the past ten years(at least);mine are always the same:get a better job, loose some weight,go to the gym more often, eat correctly, enjoy more myself, not to get angry with the people around me…(I could go on, but you’d be bored stiff),although this year will be different(I can feel it),and I will accomplish all of them.(that’s for sure).Lucy & Jeff, keep up the good work, and by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!

I would like to take a trip, that’s my dream and it should mean that everything is going well, that my wife’s health is better, mine also, and that we have enough money to
do it.
Rest I comply with, as I do not drink, smoke, haven’t big debits, eat little, haven’t stress at work (I am retired) and so on.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU, and sure Lucy that you’ll take time off to have a good travel,….. Spain perhaps?

A happy New Year to Jeff and Lucy.
And A happy New Year to all of English leaners.
I’m Tatsuya from Osaka, Japan.
My new year’s resolution is to travel abroad.
If I save enough money to travel abroad, I would like to go to Vancouver or California.
But now, I have to earn more money and improve my English.
Have a nice year.

Well, I think my only resolution for 2008 is closely connected to an important finding of 2007: eslpod.com:-) After all those months of really enjoying the professionalism and wit with which you present your podcast on such a regular basis (and the mix of “normal lessons” and English Cafés) it is time to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
I wish you (that is Lucy, Jeff and the team behind the scenes) a very happy and healthy New Year and that all your personal dreams come true and that you stick to your resolutions.

This is a small well-intentioned sound from Denmark.
I have every day in 2007 listen to your voices to hear your English explanations when I take my trip to my job.
And every day I have enjoyed it very well – it has been very exciting and very instructive to me in many ways.
I’d like to say you thanks for an instructive year 2007 and I look forward to a new year with more fascinating contributions/”lessons”.
Thousand thanks to you both Lucy and Jeff – I think both of you do a very good job and I look forward to an exciting new year.
Happy New Year to both of you.

Well, like most of you I have many resolutions that by the end of every year I see how lazy I was. I’m 26 and since I was 18 my resolution is to get fit and I enrolled in a gym and a couple of months after I desert. What I think is the only resolution that I keep is improve my English. This year I have to thank you all guys, because I’ve learned a lot from your podcasts, what I need now is to improve my speaking skills, because I read, listen to your podcasts without a problem but when it comes to speak and verbalize my ideas, I still can’t find the words. So that’s going to be pretty much mine.
Hope all of you keep yours!
God bless you

I’ve got to tell you that is really important to have resolutions. Most important of all is to have the discipline required to acomplish them. I’ve been trying as hard as I can on mine. Hopefully I’ll get something done by the end of 2008.
God bless you all
